Games and sports    

The association was formed a long time ago and it has undergone major developments up to the present age. It’s composed of members of the Executives, group and hall representatives who are all elected through secret ballot on a one year term. It caters for interests and welfare of students with a composition of first, second, third, masters and PhD students. It collects and gives out students’ course-works and tests; it presents grievances to the top administration since it’s a one united organization with moral authority to champion students’ cause.

It makes sure that the teaching – learning process is effective and conducive, that lecturers impart knowledge which is required to students, and bridges the gap between the students and the administration. Through collaboration with other bodies like the Guild, it makes sure that problems of students are solved not only at the Faculty level but University level .Of late; the Association began offering computer and photocopying services to students at subsidized prices. The noble mission of the Association is to make service the first priority to students.

General welfare
The MESA office helps students in their general standards of living while at the university under School of Education. The Association provides News papers for students to be well informed of the day today issues and financial loans. MESA also endeavors to provide students with support jobs within the University to enable them earn money for Tuition especially those under private sponsorship scheme with financial problems.

Future prospects
The Association expects to have an annual conference at School of Education from conference hall on General Education system of Uganda. It also expects to buy a vehicle for students’ body.

Games and sports
MESA fully participates in all games at University with the halls and other schools like Mulago Paramedical School and Nakawa Business School. Of the games and sports in which it participates, they include: football, netball, chess, rugby, table tennis, basket ball, handball, hockey and swimming.

The Association still helps some students exploit their talents fully in all fields like accessing sponsorships worldwide like Apio Rachael who is now in USA as a sports person. More are to be helped and also sent to other countries because of their talents. Therefore many students are encouraged to expose their talents for this great opportunity.

Academics
The Association improves the academic standards of the students within the School of Education. Here the Association feeds them with information on how to choose the teaching subjects and their content; details on any subject are provided.
The Association opens the door to students in all academic offices [lecturers] to express their academic affairs.

In addition, the Association organizes the academic seminars to discuss on the Educational issues within the School of Education in comparison with the years which preceeded.

RULES AND REGULATIONS
Academic Integrity
The University demands that students are honest in terms of their academic work. In that there is no cheating during exams and duplication of their friends work in course-work period. If found out by the supervisors, they may face suspension or punished in another way as laid down in the University Rules and Regulations.

Attendance Regulations
Class and laboratory sessions if applicable must be attended by each student to make the most of the Educational opportunities offered by the University.
A student may be excused from class and laboratory sessions by the Dean of the School of Education for only the following reasons:
i) Participation in recognized University activities or
ii) Properly certified personal illness or
iii) Emergencies caused by circumstances over which the student has no control.
In regard to any of the above reasons, the student in question should inform the Dean of School of Education before or immediately after if there is any emergency.

However, a student is responsible for all assignments, tests and examinations at the time they are due and may not use his/her absence from class as excuses for extension of time to complete assignments or for permission to take make-up examinations or tests. Work missed by a student during an absence however, may be made up at the discretion of the lecturer.
